WHAT IS PILATES?
Pilates is exercise. It is corrective exercise through movement. It is active and requires focus. At Grasshopper Pilates we want our clients to feel good and understand their bodies better by truly learning Pilates. We believe in teaching our clients so well that they experience confidence, a sense of independence, and the pleasure of movement through Pilates.
Pilates is a system of exercises created by Joseph H Pilates to strengthen, stretch, and balance the body. It is a whole body workout and aims to connect the mind and the body through precise movement. It will help you to begin initiating movements from the center of the body and therefore create healthier body mechanics. Pilates is a great workout, but it can also be applied to everything else you do from lifting a child to running a marathon.
